The Consolata Missionaries Kenya/Uganda region family led by Fr. Peter Makau IMC, the regional superior and Fr. Zachary Kariuki IMC , the vice regional superior celebrated a funeral Mass in honour of the late Fr. Josiah Asa K’Okal IMC at his home in Malele, Gem Sub-county in Siaya County.
The Mass was also concelebrated by Very Rev Fr. Vincent Odundo ,the Vicar General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kisumu , representing Archbishop Maurice Muhatia Makumba of Kisumu among a host of Consolata Missionary priests and diocesan priests from Kisumu.
The somber but deeply deserved occasion served as a moment of closure and grace for the larger family of the Okal and friends who truly cherished the humble servant of God and did not get the chance to attend his funeral in Venezuela.
A memorial stone of the late Fr. K’Okal was blessed and carried in a boat used to carry him in 1997 during his ordination to priesthood and was later installed at the family mausoleum besides his mother’s grave.
