Born in 1967 in Kimpanda (Bandundu), in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Father Matthieu Kasinzi Mbuta, now 58 years old, is currently a missionary in the outskirts of Kinshasa. Following his priestly ordination on 3 January 1999, he served in missions in Ethiopia and Djibouti, pursued studies in Egypt, and obtained his licentiate and doctorate in Islamic Studies in Rome. He also served as Superior of the IMC Congo Region.
In this video, recorded in Rome in May 2025 during the G25 ongoing formation course, Father Kasinzi speaks about his vocation and recalls with gratitude his parents and the family of nine brothers and sisters in which he was raised in the Christian faith. He also remembers the Consolata missionaries who supported him along his formation journey, and shares a message drawn from his own experience of life and mission: “In all these years of mission and studies — in Italy and across Africa — I have met people who needed the missionaries to talk with, to share their lives, and to exchange a smile.”
