Father James Lengarin: Pope Francis’ legacy to the Consolata Family

The Church and the world thank God for the gift of the Pontificate of Pope Francis. Even more so do the Consolata missionaries. In recent years, Francis has profoundly marked the history of the Consolata Family through a series of spiritual gifts that confirm our charism and our mission ad gentes, as the Holy Founder wanted.

In this video produced by the Communications Office in Rome, we present the testimony of the Superior General, Father James Lengarin, IMC, on the legacy left by Pope Francis to the Consolata Family:

“Pope Francis served the Church, he was a Jesuit missionary, a shepherd Pope with the smell of the sheep,” says Father James Lengarin. “Francis served us well and gave his whole life for the Church and for the people of God.”

The Superior General lists the great gifts that Pope Francis has given to the Consolata family: he has given two blessed missionaries, Sister Irene Stefani (2015) and Sister Leonella Sgorbati, martyr (2018); the appointment of Msgr. Giorgio Marengo, Apostolic Prefect of Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) (2020) and then created cardinal (2022); the canonization of the Founder, Saint Giuseppe Allamano (2024) and the appointment of Sister Simona Brambilla, the first woman prefect of a Dicastery in the Vatican (2025).

“All this shows us that the Church had a prophet, Pope Francis. The prophet goes beyond and this shows the spirit of God that pushes us to go beyond our life. I believe that this is the legacy that we have received from Pope Francis. Let us continue in this legacy to renew ourselves and be reborn,” says Father Lengarin.
