Patias.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The G50&#8217;s objective was to guide the wonderful seventy-year-old missionaries into this new stage of life; not as retirees struggling with the infirmities of age, but as true \u2018influencers\u2019 in the Lord\u2019s vineyard, capable of bearing fruit that is still good and flavorful.For the grand finale, we played two trump cards by enlisting a pair of exceptional professionals: Dr. Augusto Cedrone (straight from the Vatican\u2019s medical service) to handle body maintenance, and Father Giuseppe Crea (a Comboni missionary and psychotherapist) to look after the mind\u2019s software. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>By Giacomo Mazzotti*<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was two mornings (September 22 and 23) packed with energy, featuring practical advice, expertise, and &#8220;dreamlike&#8221; cartoons that really put us to the test. A unique, unconventional article; distinct from our previous ones, which, judging by the polls, were quite a hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019ve passed the 65-year mark, know that you haven&#8217;t entered the waiting room for life\u2019s sunset, but rather a biological playground divided into three convenient zones: The Indestructibles (65\u201375 years old), who outrun thirty-somethings and have schedules busier than a corporate executive\u2019s; the Moderately Supported (75\u201385 years old), where a little help comes in handy and there\u2019s no shame in asking for it; and the High-Octane Super Seniors (over 85), the neighborhood\u2019s undisputed bosses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, forget the clich\u00e9 of the sad grandpa staring at a construction site. Science is clear: the brain doesn&#8217;t retire, and neuroplasticity is still working wonders. Unfortunately, this rules out almost everything that makes a human being happy at a Sunday barbecue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; Green light for: fish, plenty of vegetables, whole grains, and that drizzle of olive oil that screams &#8220;high-end Mediterranean diet.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; Red zone (consume sparingly): chili peppers, beer, cured meats, spices, fatty cheeses, and fried foods. Schedule your regular health check-ups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; Constant monitoring: Keep a close watch on your blood pressure and cholesterol levels. They are the silent snipers responsible for heart attacks and strokes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; The trio of check-ups: Once a year, schedule a cardiology appointment, a urology appointment, and a geriatric assessment to ensure your memory remains sharp and clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Old age is by no means a shipwreck; it is simply a wiser voyage. Treat your body well, and it will take you much further still.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>And finally<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our existence on earth is a time of initiation into life, it is life itself, yet it leads us toward a fuller life, an initiation into that fullness; a life that finds its fulfillment only in God. We are imperfect from the start, and we remain imperfect until the end. In the fulfillment of God\u2019s promise, the relationship is reversed: the space of God, which Jesus prepares for us with such care, transcends the time of our mortal life. Thus, old age brings us closer to the hope of this fulfillment. The advice from missionary and psychotherapist Giuseppe Crea invites us to view the chair not merely as an object, but as a mental and emotional space of awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our fast-paced world, the chair becomes a physical place where we intentionally choose to pause and care for ourselves.
