The gathering of the superiors and recently elected councilors had as its central theme: <em>\u201cAuthority as Service.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>* By Santiago Qui\u00f1\u00f3nez<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every three years, all the circumscriptions of the Institute renew their governing councils. In the Americas, there are five circumscriptions in nine countries, with three regional superiors and two delegation superiors. After the elections held in June of this year, the new superiors began their service with a week of formation and reflection on authority as service, in light of Gospel values and the Consolata charism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the participants was the General Councilor for the Continent, Father Juan Pablo De los R\u00edos, who coordinated the course in Bogot\u00e1. \u201cThe superior is, above all, someone who accompanies, who listens, who prays for his confreres, and who gives an example with his life. Currently, the Institute in the Continent is organized into five circumscriptions: the Argentina Region, whose superior is Father Daniel Alberto Bertea; the Brazil Region, led by Father Paulo da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o Fernando Mz\u00e9; the Colombia Region, which also includes Ecuador and Peru, under the guidance of Father Venanzio Mwangi; the Venezuela Delegation, entrusted to Father Beni Nzung\u2019aloets Kapala; and the Delegation of Canada, United States, and Mexico (DCMS), entrusted to Father Peter Ssekajugo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting\u2019s program included the study of the IMC Directory at the general and circumscriptions level, guidelines for safeguarding minors\u2014a culture of care and protection of children, adolescents, and vulnerable persons\u2014, mission-related economy, and the missionary project for the Continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/consolataafrica.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/20250828CCAmeriva-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/consolataafrica.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/20250828CCAmeriva-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/consolataafrica.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/20250828CCAmeriva-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/consolataafrica.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/20250828CCAmeriva-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/consolataafrica.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/20250828CCAmeriva.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Father Venanzio Mwangi, Regional Superior of Colombia, re-elected in the latest assembly, participated with his new council and was the host of this formative event in the Colombian capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting concluded on August 15, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with a Eucharist presided over by Bishop Joaqu\u00edn Alberto Pinz\u00f3n, IMC, of the Vicariate of Puerto Legu\u00edzamo\u2013Solano, in thanksgiving for the fruits of this formative and discernment process in the spirit of continentality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this video, Father Juan Pablo De los R\u00edos further explores the meaning of authority as service within the Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Servicio de la autoridad: Nuevas direcciones IMC de Am\u00e9rica se forman\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OKsClsme92U?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fonte\">* Santiago Qui\u00f1\u00f3nez is an IMC journalist in Colombia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Regional House of the Consolata Missionaries in Bogot\u00e1, Colombia, hosted from August 12 to 15 the newly elected leadership teams of the Institute\u2019s circumscriptions in the American continent.
